Official House Rules

Welcome to the official House Rules for Betway. These House Rules dictate the settlement, grading, and operational procedures for all real-money wagers placed within the Betway Sportsbook and Betway Casino. It is your strict responsibility to read, understand, and agree to these rules before placing any wager on our platform.

These House Rules are integrated directly into our Terms of Service. In the event of a discrepancy between these rules and any promotional material, these House Rules shall prevail. Betway reserves the right to modify these rules at any time, subject to approval by the relevant state gaming regulatory bodies (e.g., NJDGE, PGCB, MGCB). Changes will apply only to bets placed after the time of the update.

1. General Sportsbook Betting Rules

The following overarching principles apply to all sports wagers placed on the platform, regardless of the specific league or sport involved.

A. Bet Acceptance and Validity

A wager is only deemed valid and accepted once it is assigned a unique Bet Receipt Number by our servers and appears in your "My Bets" or "Bet History" section. If a bet is pending, buffering, or interrupted by a network disconnection before a receipt is generated, the wager is not active. We are not liable for any anticipated winnings from bets that were never fully finalized on our backend systems.

B. Palpable Errors (Obvious Errors)

While we employ sophisticated automated feeds and expert trading teams, human or systemic errors can occasionally occur. A "Palpable Error" is an obvious mistake in the quoted odds, lines, or totals. Examples include transposed point spreads (e.g., Kansas City Chiefs +14 instead of -14 against a weaker opponent) or odds that are clearly reversed.

If a wager is placed on a market containing a Palpable Error, Betway reserves the absolute right to either: (1) completely void the wager and refund the stake, or (2) resettle the wager at the correct odds/lines that were available in the general market at the exact time the bet was struck. Players will be notified via their account inbox if a Palpable Error correction has been applied.

C. Postponements, Cancellations, and Abandonments

As a general rule, if a sporting event is canceled, abandoned, or postponed and not rescheduled to commence within 48 hours of the original start time, all wagers on that event will be declared void, and stakes will be refunded. However, any markets that have already been unconditionally determined before the interruption (e.g., "First Quarter Winner" if the game is abandoned in the third quarter) will stand and be settled normally.

D. Dead Heat Rules

A "Dead Heat" occurs when two or more participants tie for a specific position or outcome (e.g., two golfers tying for 5th place, or two players tying for the most goals in a tournament). In the event of a Dead Heat, your stake is divided by the number of participants involved in the tie, and the full odds are applied to that reduced stake. For example, if you placed a $100 bet at +500 on a player who ties with one other player, your return would be calculated as a $50 bet at +500.

2. Live (In-Play) Betting Rules

Live Betting allows you to place wagers while an event is ongoing. Due to the dynamic nature of live sports, specific rules apply to these markets.

A. Intentional Broadcast Delay

To ensure fairness and prevent "courtsiding" (using stadium-fast feeds to beat the sportsbook), all Live Bets are subjected to an intentional system delay of roughly 3 to 8 seconds prior to acceptance. If a significant event occurs during this delay window (e.g., a goal is scored, a red card is issued, or a turnover occurs), the pending bet will be automatically rejected by the system.

B. VAR (Video Assistant Referee) and Replay Reviews

If an event is subject to an official video review (such as VAR in soccer or a Coach's Challenge in the NFL), Betway reserves the right to void any Live Bets placed between the occurrence of the incident and the final determination of the video review. Furthermore, if a review overturns a previously settled market, we reserve the right to resettle the market correctly, which may result in funds being removed from your account balance if they were paid out incorrectly.

3. Cash Out Policies

The Cash Out feature allows you to settle a wager early, locking in a profit or minimizing a loss before the event has concluded.

• Availability is Not Guaranteed: The Cash Out feature is provided entirely at the discretion of the trading team. We do not guarantee that Cash Out will be available for any specific market, game, or point in time. It may be suspended dynamically if odds are rapidly fluctuating.
• Acceptance: When you click the Cash Out button, there is a standard delay. If the odds change or the market suspends during this delay, the Cash Out request will be rejected.
• Final Settlement: Once a Cash Out is successfully processed, the bet is officially settled. The funds are instantly added to your balance. Any subsequent events in the actual match will have no bearing on the settled amount, even if your original wager would have gone on to win a much larger payout.

4. Specific Sport Settlement Rules

Each major sport carries unique nuances. By placing a bet on these sports, you agree to the following grading criteria.

A. American Football (NFL & NCAA)

• Overtime Inclusion: Unless explicitly stated otherwise (e.g., "Regular Time Only" or "3-Way Moneyline"), all full-game markets (Moneyline, Point Spread, Totals) include Overtime play.
• Abandoned Games: For a football bet to have action, the game must be played for a minimum of 55 minutes. If a game is abandoned before 55 minutes, all undecided wagers are void.
• Player Props (Action vs. Inactive): For NFL player prop bets (e.g., "Over/Under Rushing Yards"), the specified player must play at least one official snap for the bet to have action. If the player is declared "Inactive" prior to kickoff, all prop bets associated with that player will be voided and stakes refunded.

B. Basketball (NBA & NCAA)

• Overtime Inclusion: Similar to football, all full-game basketball markets include Overtime unless stated otherwise.
• Minimum Play Time: NBA games must go at least 43 minutes of play for full-game bets to have action. NCAA basketball games must go at least 35 minutes.
• Push Rules: If a point spread or total lands exactly on the quoted number (e.g., the spread is -5 and the team wins by exactly 5), the bet is graded as a "Push," and the stake is refunded to the player. In parlays, a Push simply reduces the parlay by one leg (a 4-team parlay becomes a 3-team parlay).

C. Baseball (MLB)

• Action Rules: Unless you specify "Listed Pitchers Must Start" when placing your wager, all baseball bets are considered "Action" regardless of starting pitcher changes.
• The 8.5 Inning Rule: For Run Line (-1.5 / +1.5) and Total (Over/Under) wagers to have action, the game must go a minimum of 9 full innings (or 8.5 innings if the home team is winning). If a game is called due to rain before this threshold, Moneyline bets may be settled if 5 full innings were played, but Run Line and Totals will be voided.
• Extra Innings: All extra innings are included in the settlement of full-game Moneyline, Run Line, and Totals wagers.

D. Ice Hockey (NHL)

• 60-Minute Play vs. OT Included: Hockey betting features two distinct moneyline types. The "3-Way Moneyline" (Win/Tie/Win) is settled based strictly on the 60 minutes of regulation play. Overtime and Shootouts do not count. The "2-Way Moneyline" (often labeled "Moneyline" or "To Win Match") includes Overtime and Shootouts.
• Shootout Scoring: If an NHL game proceeds to a shootout, the winning team is credited with exactly one (1) goal toward their final score for the purpose of settling the Moneyline, Puck Line, and Game Totals.

E. Soccer

• The 90-Minute Rule: Unless explicitly stated (e.g., "To Advance" or "To Lift the Trophy"), all soccer match betting is settled on the result at the end of regular time (90 minutes plus any injury/stoppage time added by the referee). Extra Time (the two 15-minute periods) and Penalty Shootouts are strictly excluded from standard match betting.
• Player Props: If a player is not in the starting starting lineup, "First Goalscorer" bets will generally be voided. However, "Anytime Goalscorer" bets will stand if the player enters the match as a substitute at any time.

F. Tennis

• Match Walkovers: If a player advances due to a walkover (the opponent withdraws prior to the match starting), all bets on the match will be void.
• Retirements During Play: If a tennis match starts but is not fully completed due to a player retiring due to injury or disqualification, all Match Winner (Moneyline) bets will be voided, regardless of the score at the time of retirement. However, any markets that have already been unconditionally determined (e.g., "Winner of Set 1" if Set 1 was completed) will stand.

5. Casino & Live Dealer Rules

The Betway Casino operates under strict regulatory oversight to ensure complete fairness and transparency.

A. Random Number Generators (RNG)

The outcomes of all digital casino games (slots, virtual blackjack, roulette) are entirely dictated by an independently audited and certified Random Number Generator (RNG). This ensures that every spin of the reel and turn of the card is statistically independent and completely fair. We cannot alter the RTP (Return to Player) or volatility of the games.

B. Malfunction Voids All Pays

This is a standard industry rule mandated by gaming regulators. In the highly unlikely event of a software malfunction, server crash, or display error during a casino game, all active plays and associated payouts for that specific hand or spin are strictly voided. Your original stake will be returned to your balance. Betway is not liable for any "anticipated" or graphical winnings that occurred during a confirmed system malfunction.

C. Player Disconnections

If you lose your internet connection while playing a slot machine, the spin will complete on our servers. When you log back in, your balance will reflect the outcome of that spin, and you can view the result in your account history.

If you are disconnected during an interactive game that requires your input (e.g., you are dealt cards in Blackjack but disconnect before choosing to Hit or Stand), the game state is saved securely. Upon logging back in, you will be automatically returned to that exact game state to complete your action. If a live dealer game is disconnected on your end, your hand will be played out according to optimal basic strategy, or simply "Stand" if no choice was made within the allotted time limit.

If you believe a bet has been graded incorrectly according to these House Rules, please immediately contact our Customer Support team via Live Chat or email. You must provide your Bet Receipt Number for any investigation to commence.

Our trading supervisors will review the official statistics (using data from official sports governing bodies like NFL.com or NBA.com) and the specific rules outlined on this page. If the issue remains unresolved internally to your satisfaction, you retain the right to escalate the dispute to the relevant state gaming commission (e.g., the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement) for binding arbitration.
